Public presentation of the Conservation of S.Antonio Forest Project

Let’s protect forests and wetlands!

On Saturday 19 July, in the Council Chamber of the ancient town hall of Reggello, during the “Festival of Associations” together with Gruppo Perché No?, we presented the project Biodiversity Conservation of the Sant’Antonio Forest, rete Natura 2000.

The event was a unique opportunity to launch the project and introduce it to the local community. In particular, we would like to thank:

  • Enrico Fiordiponti, Director of the Ecomuseo della Montagna Fiorentina, who illustrated the wetland restoration project and explained how it will be carried out;

  • Nicolò Pellecchia, herpetologist, who provided a scientific explanation of the role of wetlands and how they can help prevent hydrogeological instability;

  • Laki and Lorenzo for their heartfelt testimony of environmental activism;

  • Mayor Piero Giunti and Councillor Adele Bartolini for being staunch supporters of the protection of natural areas as a valuable community resource.

The first concrete excavation works will begin in mid-August — stay tuned!
