Bioblitz Event
Given the current restrictions resulting from the pandemic, the Maremma Natural History Museum in Grosseto (Tuscany, Italy) is organising a BioBlitz event called ‘Whatever it takes Bioblitz / Bioblitz at any cost’.
It will be held on May 15th, from 8:00 to 24:00 CET and you are all invited to participate.
How?
Follow the detailed instructions to participate here or register on the website. Anyone can take part despite the varying restrictions in different regions:
- If you are at home in lock-down you can upload photos of wild animals and plants you have already taken.
- If you are in areas where it is permitted to go out, you can send data collected directly in the field using the app or website.
Also pass the information on to nature experts in your country and invite them to register for the event so they can help identify the life forms observed and uploaded in the Bioblitz project.
Steps to follow:
Step 1:
Register to INaturalist and create your profile, or download the app on your mobile.
Step 2:
Upload your observations using this link or via the app.
Step 3:
Now you can send your photos of animals and plants when you come across them, if you are forced to stay at home, you can upload them from your archives.
Step 4:
You can start participating on May 15th, from 8:00 to 24:00, uploading your photos complete with location and date. You can enter a name or try to identify them with the platform’s artificial intelligence tool.
Step 5:
Revisit the page whenever you want, to see how the project is progressing in real time and explore the map, which will automatically display all the data entered. Throughout the Bioblitz event, a team of researchers and specialists will be identifying the uploaded observations.
Enjoy!
