First Grants of 2021 Awarded!
The TEF recently decided on it’s first ever grant awards, with the steering committee unanimously voting to reward both Tartamare, an organisation of volunteers working to protect Sea Turtles throughout Tuscany, as well as XPollination, a vital citizen science project designed to create awareness of environmental issues that surround pollinating insects.
The first payments will be made immediately to Tartamare to support their vital work of monitoring the Tuscan coastline for signs of Turtle nesting sites occurring in June and July, with TEF funds going towards the acquisition of equipment including data-loggers, nightscopes, a GoPro and E-Fatbike, to allow more efficient and faster operations. A second and possibly third tranche of payments will arrive later on to support the education work of Tartamare, expanding their learning centre and providing materials for the increasing number of volunteers and students who come to Marina di Grosseto to help.
Payments for XPollination will begin at the start of the scholastic year and will be coordinated through the Museum of Natural History in Grosseto.
