Weaving Marsh Grass: Tradition for Conservation🌿

In the Fucecchio Marshes and Lake Sibolla, we have launched a project that preserves biodiversity through the ancient craft of weaving. Together with Amici del Padule di Fucecchio, Intrecci Onlus, and Lipu Pistoia, we are promoting sustainable ecosystem management and social inclusion.

Tuscany Regenerative Agriculture Scholarship🌱

The collaboration between Terre di Sacra and Tuscany Environment Foundation continues to grow stronger.

A longstanding partner of TEF, nestled in the heart of the Maremma, surrounded by nature and open horizons, Terre di Sacra shares our commitment to safeguarding the extraordinary natural heritage of Tuscany.

From April 1st, 2026, every guest will have the option to add a €1 voluntary donation during their stay to support TEF’s environmental protection projects.

A small contribution that helps protect the ecosystems and biodiversity that make this landscape so unique.

Rice that cares for the environment🌾

For the second consecutive year, Tenuta San Carlo renews its support for the Tuscany Environment Foundation.

In the Maremma region, the Estate cultivates with a focus on quality and biodiversity, carrying forward a long family tradition.

Through this partnership, Tenuta San Carlo donates 1% of sales from Ebano, its prized organic whole-grain aromatic black rice, to TEF’s environmental protection projects.

This concrete contribution further strengthens the link between sustainable agriculture and biodiversity protection, for which we are truly grateful!

📢PROJECT UPDATES

S. Antonio Forest: Youth Leadership in Conservation🐸

On February 5th in Florence, we celebrated the conclusion of the S. Antonio Forest wetland restoration project. Over 100 participants attended the final conference. This success was made possible by the energy and passion of the Gruppo perché no youth group, whose dedication led to the restoration of a vital ecosystem for endangered amphibian species.

Education for Biodiversity 🌱

In February, two new Planetary Gardens were created in Porto Azzurro (IC Carducci) and Grosseto (Ist. Leopoldo II di Lorena). Supported by Associazione Faremo Foresta, students built miniature forests that serve as outdoor classrooms. In Grosseto, students also joined the X-Pollination project, implemented by Silva Coop, to participate in pollinator monitoring and experience the value of citizen science.

Citizen Science at the Florence Botanical Garden 🐝

On March 8th, at the historic “Giardino dei Semplici”, we hosted a day dedicated to pollinators with the Cross-Polli:Nation project. In collaboration with the University of Florence, 50 volunteers of all ages learned to identify and monitor insects, contributing directly to scientific data collection amidst the first spring blooms.
