Over four intensive days, participants explored the foundational principles of watershed restoration, addressing both small-scale interventions and region-wide strategies. Through a blend of classroom sessions and hands-on field demonstrations, the course provided a deep understanding of how water shapes our landscapes — and how thoughtful design can help reverse degradation and drought.

Using Tenuta di Paganico as a living case study, Zach and Lorenzo guided participants in assessing the current watershed conditions, conducting soil and landscape tests, and identifying key areas for intervention. Collaborative group work then focused on developing water-retention designs for the farm and the wider regional context.

The goal: to translate practical, on-the-ground activities into scalable strategies that can inform a regional approach to land and water regeneration.

Results:

• 36 farmers and specialists joining the course
• a Regional Action Plan was developed
• 1 podcast covering key learnings and highlights from the workshop was produced
