Our project in the hands of Pope Francis

The Bluefishers project reaches the hands of Pope Francesco

Thanks to the Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area, now even the Pope, a great supporter of ecology, is aware of the reusable box!

Fishermen have the possibility of abandoning polystyrene boxes, a material widely used in the fishing sector but which disperses extremely easily in the sea, polluting and causing damage to marine fauna.

With the contribution of the Tuscany Environment Foundation, 70 fishermen and 58 boats from the Città della Pesca in Viareggio have replaced the old polystyrene containers with over 2.300 reusable boxes made by Duwo.

The Bluefishers project has eliminated 35.000 polystyrene boxes, providing a concrete alternative to fishermen, protagonists of change.

One of these boxes was donated to Pope Francis so that he can continue to speak worldwide about a sustainable future.
